Legendary's Street Fighter Movie: All We Know So Far! 🔥

Get ready, fighting game fans! The iconic Street Fighter franchise is stepping back into the live-action arena, and Legendary Pictures is at the helm. While details are still emerging, we've gathered all the buzz about this highly anticipated adaptation of the classic Capcom video game.

Kitao Sakura, known for directing 2021’s Bad Trip and several episodes of 2023’s Twisted Metal, is set to direct this ambitious project. With his experience in action and comedic elements, it will be interesting to see his vision for the beloved fighting game universe.

The casting rumors alone are enough to ignite excitement. The current lineup, according to various reports, includes some familiar faces from both the action and entertainment worlds. Andrew Koji (from Snake Eyes) is reportedly taking on the role of Ryu, while Noah Centineo (The Recruit) is slated to play Ken. Adding some serious muscle to the roster, Roman Reigns (aka Joe Anoa’i, seen in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) is rumored to be portraying the menacing Akuma. And in a surprising turn, Jason Momoa (Aquaman) is attached to play the electrifying Blanka. Even musician Orville Peck is rumored for an undisclosed role, adding an intriguing layer to the cast.

The ensemble continues to grow with Callina Liang (Presence) reportedly cast as the formidable Chun-Li. Comedian Andrew Schulz is rumored to portray the quirky Dan Hibiki, and David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil) is reportedly taking on the iconic villain, M. Bison.

Further adding to the star power, sources like Nexus Point News indicate that Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson (Get Rich or Die Tryin’) is being eyed for Balrog, and WWE superstar Cody Rhodes (Arrow) is being considered for the military strongman Guile. Media outlets have also reported that the versatile Walton Goggins (The White Lotus, Fallout) was being considered for a role, though his specific character remains unknown.

This isn't the first time Street Fighter has made the leap to the big screen. The journey began in 1994 with the Steven E. de Souza film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile. Despite being critically panned, it remains one of Van Damme’s highest-grossing films. A planned 2003 sequel with Van Damme, Damian Chapa (Ken), Byron Mann (Ryu), Dolph Lundgren, and Holly Valance (as Cammy) unfortunately never materialized.

Instead, fans received 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and starring Kristin Kreuk, Chris Klein, Robin Shou, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Hong Kong legend Cheng Pei-pei. More recently, the live-action web series 2014’s Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, starring Mike Moh and Christian Howard, gained traction, later being edited into a TV series and feature film, followed by the 2015 sequel Street Fighter: Resurrection, which introduced Alain Moussi.

We'll be sure to keep you updated as more information about Legendary Pictures’ Street Fighter comes to light. What characters are you most excited to see adapted?
